Prior to founding Smart Solutions, Jackie worked as a developer and consultant internationally. She loves the consulting industry for its variety and challenge. Currently, she is enjoying the challenge of management as Smart Solutions enters its second decade. Her goal for the company is to be remembered as the best job her employees ever had. Jackie enjoys travel, reading and relaxing on (and in) the water.
Mark is currently the Senior Vice President of Smart Solutions. He manages all financials, infrastructure, and facilities for the business. Mark was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from Illinois State University majoring in computer science and economics. He is married to Cheri and has two children, Nick and Joseph. For enjoyment, you will find him on the golf course, cruising the Madison lakes with his family and friends on his pontoon boat, or snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin.
Brent Mitchell, Vice President and Partner at Smart Solutions, has over 25 years of IT experience and has been in many roles including developer, trainer, project manager, technical resource manager and account manager. His goal at every opportunity is to add value and help others achieve success, whether they are the client or consultant. His broad background brings depth and understanding to his relationships.
As account manager, Brent is involved in sales, recruiting, managing consultants and administration. In his free time, he enjoys working in his garden, reading, playing music and spending time with his family. (As well as he should, since he has nine children.) Brent is an excellent client golfer. Whoever plays with him always looks good.
Manotee, Vice President and Partner at Smart Solutions, joined our company in 2006 with 20 years of combined sales and IT experience, including roles such as software trainer, application developer, analyst and IT consultant. Manotee got started in information technology in the mid-1980s designing computer graphics for the U.S. Air Force. Her passion is Smart Solutions, and her focus is to continue to build on the vision of being the IT consulting firm of choice for both clients and consultants.
Mary Jo Solowicz
Mary Jo is a Resource Manager at Smart Solutions. She is dedicated to providing a high level of service and support to our consulting staff. She is also the Coordinator of the Smart Solutions Plus Program™. Prior to joining Smart Solutions, Mary Jo accumulated over 14 years of staffing, human resource and management experience through engagements with a local school district, a staffing service, and the State of Wisconsin. Mary Jo graduated from UW-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in human resource management and business communication. Outside of work, Mary Jo enjoys spending time with family and friends, volleyball, reading and trying new recipes.
Paula Holden is an Account Manager and has over 20 years of experience working with IT consulting firms. In addition to recent sales experience, her background includes recruiting, marketing, and also 10 years of resource management in the field. She has spent the past 20 years of her career in the Madison market and strongly believes in relationship-based sales. Paula holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from UW-Whitewater and also a Master’s degree in Human Resources from Marquette University.
Outside of work, Paula enjoys spending time with her family and friends at their family cabin. Other hobbies include: stand up paddleboarding, boating, yoga and biking.
David joined Smart Solutions in 2012 as a Technical Recruiter and after almost five years, has grown into the role of Recruiting Lead. He is originally from Brookfield, WI and graduated from UW-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in general management, with an emphasis in occupational health and safety. Dave brings over five years of recruiting experience, mostly in the IT sector, and finds great satisfaction in helping people find fulfilling positions. Outside of work, Dave enjoys staying active, traveling, playing board games, listening to live music, and spending time with his family, including his wife, son and two dogs (German Shorthair Pointer – Finley, and Great Dane Mix – Lacy).

Jackie is proud to have been born and raised in Madison, and can’t imagine ever wanted to leave this wonderful community. She is a seasoned Technical Recruiter who brings 15+ years of professional recruitment experience. Jackie works hard to facilitate a strong partnership that will benefit her candidates as well as Smart Solutions. And she prides herself in going above and beyond when working with our candidates.
Outside of work Jackie’s passion is spending time with her large extended family and friends. She loves to be outdoors whenever she can either taking walks, hanging out by a lake, or sharing a good bottle of wine. She belongs to a group called “Desserts First”. This group goes out to eat five times yearly, and they always order and eat their dessert course first! She’d welcome tips about restaurants you’ve been at with great, or unusual, dessert selections.
Andrew Okada Technical Recruiter
Andrew’s background includes recruiting and staffing for the hospitality, manufacturing, and now IT industries. Born and raised in the Madison area, he received a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in marketing from Edgewood College. Andrew brings with him a strong commitment to the needs of both the clients and the consultants.
When not at work, Andrew enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as taking advantage of all the offerings that this great city provides. Whether that be spending time on the lakes, strolling through the farmer’s market, or attending a show at a local music venue.

Shelley joined Smart Solutions as a Sr. Technical Recruiter in 2017. She has over 20 years of experience in the Madison market as a Recruiter and Account Manager. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Spanish.
In her spare time, Shelley takes care of her three dogs – an Irish Wolfhound mix, a Bull Mastiff/Boxer mix, and a Cairn terrier. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren; college basketball (especially the Badgers!); reading and listening to music. She volunteers for Meals on Wheels and enjoys traveling, when time and the dogs allow.

Dennis joined the Smart Solutions team in 2017 where he continues to apply his 20 plus years of experience in IT recruiting and staffing. He and his family are originally from Illinois and they found a way to migrate north to Madison in 2003. He is a tech junkie at heart and loves deep conversations about technical topics.
Outside of work, Dennis unwinds with the help of Wisconsin’s beautiful Northwoods. Whether spending time on the water or out in the woods, he finds nature to be the perfect balance to technology.
Shannon joined Smart Solutions in 2017 as our Resource Manager. She has a retail management background which fostered in her a love for consumer and employee relations. Prior to coming to Smart Solutions, she spent grew and developed a retail management team that was focused on not only sales and results, but also on personal growth and development. She has a passion for people and conversation, which is why she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a major in communicating arts and a minor in psychology. Outside of work Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and loyal canine pal. She loves to cook, and looks forward every year to farmers market season. Shannon is a valuable resource and source of support for all of our consultants!
Michelle joined the Smart Solutions team in May, 2014 and is filling the role of Administrative Assistant, she joined our team with 15+ years of administrative staffing experience. Michelle has always enjoyed the behind-the-scenes work in the IT industry of assisting and organizing. Outside of work she enjoys time spent with family and friends.
Alyssa recently joined Smart Solutions as a Recruiting Assistant. She is dedicated and motivated to ensure recruiters have current and accurate information that is readily available. She is passionate about people and working with them to fulfill their needs. Her background includes working with employee relations in the education industry.
She is a recent graduate from UW-Platteville with a Bachelor in Business Administration and a minor in Fine Arts. She relocated to Madison and is enjoying the bustling city life! In her free time, you can find her nestled in a book or two, relaxing with friends and family, baking, playing with her beloved Puggle (Beagle/Pug) Remy, behind the camera (photography), or taking a leisurely bike ride around Madison.
Mandy is our Human Resources Manager. Mandy’s background includes work in the logistics and healthcare fields with experience in benefits, recruiting and employee relations. She received her bachelor’s degree in human resource management from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, along with a minor in communication. She strives to balance the needs and goals of both the company and its employees, to maintain consistent employee engagement; and to serve as a Strategic Partner by bringing HR knowledge, ideas and innovations to Smart Solutions.
Mandy is strongly involved in the Greater Madison Area SHRM chapter and volunteers as a committee member on the Membership Committee.
In her free time, Mandy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, serving as a board member for her daughter’s school, reading and baking.
Betsy joined Smart in 2016 as our Payroll Administrator. She brings over 10 years of experience working as an Accountant throughout the Dane and Sauk counties. Betsy has spent more than half her life specializing in payroll! She strongly believes accuracy and attention to detail are keys in her role, as well as her day-to-day duties. While working full time and attending night classes, Betsy obtained her associate degree in accounting at Madison College – even achieving Dean’s List for several semesters.
Outside of work, Betsy and her husband, Andrew, have a five-month old daughter, Calista, and a loveable dog, Dax. She enjoys spending time in Mercer at her husband’s family cabin and traveling the U.S. to experience all the beauty and joys it has to offer. Other hobbies include walks with her family, yoga with her girlfriends, and hunting with her brothers.
