About Madison
![]() |
It's been called the most livable city in the nation. This is Madison, Wisconsin,
where Smart Solutions, Inc. was founded and where it operates today.
Also known
as The Mad City, Madison rests on an isthmus between Lakes Mendota and Monona,
two of the five lakes in the immediate area. Madison is Wisconsin’s
state capital and home to one of the world's great universities, the University
of Wisconsin. Madison means Nobel prizes, Big Ten sports, independent coffee
shops, restaurants that range from student hang-outs through ethnic experience
to haute cuisine, and the chance to get moving with sailing, fishing, hiking,
biking, and more.
Hang on the Union Terrace overlooking Lake Mendota, take a
UW mini course, or cheer the Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center. Explore
Madison’s parks, neighborhoods, art venues, and neighborhood shopping
areas, and participate in some of the best eating in the Midwest. Sample
middle Eastern, Japanese, Indian, or Italian specialties, all within walking
distance of the city center, or shop for fresh locally grown organic fruits,
vegetables, herbs, baked goods and more at the Saturday Farmer’s Market.
Sample the best cheese and dairy food in the nation, buy genuinely home-made
baked goods and home-canned preserves, then get fitted for your custom bike
or kayak and work off those treats.
Hike or bike for miles, take a sailing lesson,
or stroll through the Arboretum and overlook acres of preserved prairie, marshlands,
and specimens of native or exotic but well-adapted trees, shrubs, and hardy
perennials. Learn how to cater for birds, butterflies, and native species in
your backyard. Jet ski in summer, paddle your canoe, join a crew team, or go
cross-country skiing out your front door when the snow flies.
Madison offers
the culture and entertainment of a big city while maintaining a small-town
quality of life. In addition to the University's many
programs and major commitment to the arts, Madison now hosts classical
music, rock concerts, jazz, blues, holiday specials, and Broadway shows at
the Overture Center for the Arts.
Home to Madison
Ballet, the Madison Symphony
Orchestra, and the Madison Opera,
the Center also provides venues for the Madison
Repertory Theater, Kanopy Dance,
four art galleries, and the Madison Museum
of Contemporary Art.
