Q. What kind of skills do you see demand for in the IT field on Ohau? A. I'm a Project Manager in telecom working on a government contract. Information Assurance is in high demand for IT professionals on Military contracts. <continued>Â
Q. Â What is Information Assurance? A. Â It includes data integrity and data security. Cyber security seems to be the growth field.
Q. Â Isn't Hawaii kind of backwards in technology? A. Â Because Hawaii is a key military strategic location, we have had leading edge technology for decades.
Q.  Why did you get your PMP certification? A.  I don't need it; I have a good job and am in no hurry to leave it. But I have been watching the market and have seen the PMP evolve from being a desirable qualification to a requirement.  If I want to stay in PM, I need the credential.
When I began studying for the PMP I was pleased to discover that it is a well defined discipline. I found  tools and techniques to accomplish more deliberately many of the things I had been doing intuitively.
Q. Â If someone wants to move to Hawaii, what kind of skills do they need to get a job? A. Â First, learn to wait tables. Â Second, get your security clearance. Â IT for government is a growth industry. Â Cyber security is a field in demand and if you are certified that would give you an edge. Â Â Â Â Â
